PENSIONERS across Warrington are being urged to get in touch with a scheme that could help them cut their bills.

Help the Aged are advising people to contact Here to Help', a British Gas programme that offers a range of free services that could help them to save money.

The programme can offer free loft and cavity wall insulation as well as hot water tank jackets and energy saving light bulbs to help keep homes warmer and reduce energy bills by possibly cutting heating costs by a third.

Anyone who applies can also get a free benefits health check that sees whether they are claiming all benefits they are entitled to.

When you have selected and received your energy-saving, benefit then you can also request a HandyVan visit.

Each visit includes a full safety and security assessment from a trained Help the Aged fitter, who will also fit free door chains, smoke detectors and window locks.

To apply for the scheme, you must be receiving a Government benefit such as housing or council tax benefit or pension credit.

Pensioners can apply to here to Help' by calling 0845 605 2535.
