WORK has begun on a £4.6m social housing scheme in Howley.
Warrington Housing Association (WHA) is building 40 new properties in Robson Street.
They will be on the site of the former Community House and Health Centre.
The properties comprise 32 three-bedroom houses, four four-bedroom houses and four two-bedroom bungalows. Work should be completed by February 2008.
Alan Kemp, chief executive of WHA, said: "Robson Street is an important new build scheme which we have undertaken, and I believe it is an important step forward in the provision of badly-needed social housing in Warrington.
"We have worked closely with the local community, to ensure it fits the bill, and I look forward to the first residents moving in next year."
