CHILDREN and staff at a school in Newton got up to lots of capers for Comic Relief.

Teachers at The District CE Primary School dressed up as pupils for the day and one staff member took the day theme of The Big One' quite literally with a giant red nose that took over his head.

Pupils sang the Comic Relief song in assembly, dressed up as clowns and made red nose cakes.

At playtime, 284 children held hands to form a chain, which was photographed and sent to the G8 Summit to raise awareness and continue to put pressure on governments to give more aid for schools in developing countries.
