FREE dog health checks return to a Newton park next week.

After the success of a previous dog check day last year, St Helens Council's Dog Control Service has decided to team up with the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals to offer free checks again.

The PetCheck Caravan will visit Mesnes Park with a fully qualified veterinary nurse offering free advice to owners.

You can take your dog along for a free health check covering its weight, teeth, eyes, ears, coat condition and general fitness, and free pet care information leaflets will be on offer.

The Dog Control Service is on hand throughout the day to provide advice on responsible dog ownership and hand out free poop scoop bags.

Dog owners are also being offered the chance to have their pets microchipped by paying a donation of £9.50 to the Dogs Trust. The PetCheck Caravan will be at Mesnes Park on Wednesday, from 10am to 5pm.
