COULD you be Warrington's answer to Sir Richard Branson or Sir Alan Sugar?

Are you a budding business mogul who just needs that first break to make it big?

If so, a televised competition called Going It Alone could be for you.

Taylor Business Park, in Risley, has teamed up with Warrington TV channel the Big Idea and Nat West bank to find the best business idea out there.

"We want people to think outside the box and come up with something a bit different, something that perhaps Warrington doesn't have at the moment," said Paul Taylor, director of Taylor Estates.

"We're looking for someone who can spot a gap in the market and start off small and local at first but potentially go national.

"It's a very good opportunity for someone."

The winner of the programme, which is described as a cross between the BBC's Dragons' Den and The Apprentice, will be given £5,000 in cash to help secure a start-up loan from Nat West.

He or she will also be able to call on advice and support from Mr Taylor, who will judge a shortlist of entrants along with Faisal Rashid, business manager at Nat West, and a representative from the Prince's Trust.

"We'd want to meet them (the winner) to find out their experience, their background, and how they came up with the idea," said Mr Taylor, aged 34, who was born in Glazebury and lives in Culcheth.

"I've been doing this for 15 years so I've seen lots of companies come and go. You get a feel for what works and what doesn't."

Taylor Business Park currently houses around 50 companies on its 24-acre premises, including Croft Engineering, Everest, Jung Heinrich and TSD Tyres.
