THE state of Penketh's parks and play areas has been causing concern for residents and the parish council alike.
Both Wythenshawe Rec and Greystone Rec have been the subject of complaints.
The clerk told last week's parish council meeting that he had been contacted by Mrs Bond, from Haslemere Drive, about glass in Wythenshawe Rec.
Clr Linda Dirir, also a Labour borough councillor for Penketh, said: "We are hoping to get that rec cleaned, along with Greystone Rec.
"I had reports on Monday afternoon and it was absolutely terrible and I can't believe that it hasn't been cleaned. I am not so sure the contractors are actually doing what they should be doing in Wythenshawe Rec because it's a new rec, and are they aware they have to clean up the glass on that?"
Clr Anne Milling said former council clerk Michael Fox, who died this year, used to go around and clean up the glass himself.
Clr Dirir said: "I know there's a letter from Mike saying if you don't clean it properly, we would be keeping it in mind when it came time to renew the contractor'."
A resident also told the Warrington Guardian that she had found flour and eggs strewn over Greystone Rec.
"It's absolutely appalling," said the 43-year-old woman, a childminder.
"You couldn't go in there with children. I rang the borough council and they said it belongs to the parish council. I rang the parish council and they said it would be cleaned on Saturday.
"I am appalled that they can't send anybody out."
