ALL creatures great and small will be flocking to Appleton's Millennium Green thanks to the DIY skills of youngsters.

To increase the wildlife on the green, Appleton parish councillors enlisted the help of pupils at Broomfields Junior School, on Bridge Lane, to make bat and bird boxes.

The 25 individually designed boxes were placed in the trees on Tuesday to attract more animals.

John Vine, the teacher who co-coordinated the project, said: "The children loved making the boxes.

"They were given wood and nails over Christmas to make them and put their own creative mark on them."

With the boxes now set up, the children will be kept up to date with the animal activity on the green.
