WHEN Natasha Dambok steps out to run the Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research in May this year, the Warrington Guardian employee will be doing it in memory of her late mum, Sue Beardmore.
Sue lost her two-year battle with ovarian cancer in October last year, just five months after celebrating her 50th birthday.
Now Natasha, aged 29, plans to step out with her friend Pip, whose mum is currently battling cancer, at the Race of Life at Oulton Park to help fund vital research into the disease.
She has set her target at £1,000 and has already had £365 pledged in donations through her Just Giving web page.
On it she writes: "In August 2004 my mum, Sue, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Our family was devastated. She fought bravely for more than two years and always with a smile. Sadly, we were to be devastated again when, last October, she lost her fight and passed away. Life will never be the same."
Natasha says: "There's still a lot of work to be done, particularly when it comes to ovarian cancer as there is no routine screening. I'll be thinking of my mum with every step I take."
