TWO dads who lost their sons in IRA bomb attacks travelled to Spain to pay their respects to victims of terrorism.

Omagh bomb victim Michael Gallagher visited the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Trust at the Peace Centre in Old Hall earlier this month.

Mr Gallagher, whose 21-year-old son, Aiden, was killed in the 1998 atrocity in Ireland, came to meet Colin Parry, the co-founder of the trust who lost his 12-year-old son, Tim, in the Warrington bomb attack of 1993.

The bereaved fathers then travelled to Madrid last week for an event commemorating both the third anniversary of the Madrid bombs and the EU Day for the Remembrance of Victims of Terrorism, where they made speeches sharing their experiences.

Colin Parry said: "This was an important opportunity to collaborate with other victims and stand together with them against terrorism."

The event is part of a new EU funded project to create a network of organisations working to share and develop practice for supporting victims of terrorist attacks.
