DESPITE it being a wet evening, there was a good attendance at the February meeting of Dutton WI.
Cheshire news and correspondence was read. Forthcoming events included the Luncheon Club at the Shrewsbury Arms and dinner at the Frodsham Golf Club.
President, Mrs I Rutter, introduced the speaker, Mrs Christine Marshall, whose subject was TV and Radio Scriptwriting.
She told of several jobs she'd had previously, including training as a nurse and how she first got into comedy - mainly as a dare with two other friends.
Mrs Marshall had written several short plays for Radio Four and the Edinburgh Festival, had written for Coronation Street while she was now going to EastEnders.
Two members, Mrs R Beesely and Mrs B Priestner, took part in a sketch of hers about two old ladies living next door to each other, playing it over the radio with sound effects, which made a lot of difference.
Mrs T Byrne thanked Mrs Marshall.
The competition for a bowl of bulbs was won by: first, Mrs M Hargreaves, second, Mrs J Warburton, third, Mrs M Catlow.
Refreshments were served by Hough, J Okell, M Holstead and J Dutton.
