DREAMS have become a reality for an Orford wordsmith who has had his first book published.

Christopher Curbishley, of O'Leary Street, is on cloud nine after seeing his book The Children of Tomorrow in print.

The 39-year-old has been a keen writer all his life and following a recent accident, found himself with time on his hands to write his first novel.

Inspired by a documentary about violence in Glasgow, the book follows a fictional pop group who set out to spread a message of peace and love to the children of tomorrow.

He says: "I had no idea how to go about getting it published; I just went on the Internet and the A to Z of publishers and approached Author House, the first one on the list and they snapped it up straight away. I was overjoyed."

And still buzzing from the thrill of seeing his words in print, Christopher is already working on a sequel as well as a book of poetry and prose and another stand-alone novel.

He said: "I get a lot of my inspiration from day to day life, conversations or arguments that I overhear. I always keep a pad and a pen by my bed because ideas can come at any time.

"Sometimes it can be a curse when you're trying to get to sleep and something pops into your head at three in the morning but I'm not complaining.

"I've been writing since I was about five and I find it very therapeutic - sometimes it just feels as if my ideas are bursting to get out and I can't write them down quick enough.

"While I was recovering from my accident, I just thought I'd give it a go and test the water to see how far I could get. I never expected to have it published so I'm over the moon."
