A WESTY boy who attacked a mourner has been put in juvenile custody for six months, today.

The 17-year-old fractured the nose of his victim at Padgate Train Station, Warrington Magistrates Court heard this morning.

The victim, Lee Beddow, aged 18 and from Woolston, and his friends had been laying flowers for a friend who died on the tracks.

The 17-year-old asked Mr Beddow for a cigarette and when it was refused, punched him to the ground then kicked him as he tried to get back up.

The attacker broke down in his tears and hugged his mother before he was led out the court by detention staff, as the case finished at 1pm.

Reporting restrictions prevent the naming of defendants appearing before youth court. The Warrington Guardian asked the court to name him in the public interest but the application was refused.
