A MAN has died after being hit by a train at Winwick Junction last night.
The 51-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics shortly after 8pm.
Transport police have not released the victim's name but say he was from Gainsborough in Lincolnshire.
The train involved was the 16.46 Virgin service from Glasgow to London.
A stretch of track near Bank Quay Station was closed immediately after the accident but reopened shortly after 8.30pm.
Investigators are not treating the death as suspicious.
