A LONGFORD man has pleaded guilty to trying to rob the Spar shop close to his home.
Michael Murray, aged 39, of Statham Avenue, tried to get money from the Howson Road store during the raid on February 12.
Murray showed employee Pippa Hampson a knife, which he had concealed in his hand and along his forearm, and demanded money.
Murray, a small and frail- looking man, admitted the offence at Warrington Crown Court on Friday.
Sentencing was adjourned until March 26 for the preparation of reports.
He was granted unconditional bail.
Judge Edward Teague told him: "The offence is an extremely serious one and I am sure you understand a prison sentence of some length is inevitable."
