A MAN has been banned from driving and fined after being caught without a licence or insurance.
Aweyso Abubaker, aged 23, from Manchester, was stopped by traffic police near junction 10 of the M56, in Stretton, last Sunday.
He told officers he was only driving the car because the owner, his friend and front seat passenger, was over the limit.
"There was nothing else I could do," he told Warrington Magistrates Court on Thursday. "I just wanted to get him home."
John Shipley, prosecuting, told the court that Abubaker had twice supplied officers with false details, before and then after his arrest.
He was fined £50 for resisting a police constable, £150 for driving without insurance, disqualified for six months and ordered to pay £60 costs.
