Nuclear devastation was a threat in the Warrington Guardian this week - thanks to Burtonwood Airbase.
A report said an attack leave 80 per cent of housing uninhabitable and that there would be 18 dead people for every injured person.
There was also bad news for the pubs - only The Lower Angel in Buttermarket Street and Bewsey Farm in Bewsey Farm Close got good ratings from CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale.
The big news of the week was the £7m buyout of Greening Ltd in Bewsey by a Swiss financial consortium, which had left the workforce afraid of asset stripping.
The industry reporter covering the story was John Ray - who is now ITV's first ever China correspondent.
