The Warrington Guardian was a curious mix of a club reports and snippets of international news at this time.
Readers were told Russian new year celebrations had led to 3,000 arrests and 30 deaths from alcohol poisoning. And an excerpt from an expert' in the national press foretold of the coming war between white and yellow men'.
But one story should reassure people. It shows yobs have always been with us - Warrington has not suddenly gone downhill.
It told how Agnes Sanderson, a maid from Old Road, was molested by four youths in Aprley, after the gang pushed her boyfriend, who was from 155 Knutsford Road, through a hedge near the Twelve Arches pub.
Interestingly, the woman and the four youths were all named. Reporting restrictions would prevent that today, and the case would probably go unreported.
