ARGUING' councillors were told off during a debate over whether a burned-down scout hut should be rebuilt in Hollins Green.
Clr Les Hoyle (Con), for Culcheth Glazebury and Croft, told fellow borough planning committee members: "It's fascinating when you read the Warrington Guardian because there are youth problems in every village. Yet here we are, a set of adult people, who care for our own children, arguing whether these children should have this opportunity.
"I think we should be congratulating and welcoming this scheme."
The vote to build the hut, used by dozens of Scouts and parents, was unanimously carried last Thursday.
Clr Maureen Banner (Lab), Rixton and Woolston, spoke against the plan and said people living near the hut appreciated the quiet since the fire in 2004.
She said the hut would be built on the one green space' in the village and that there were no parking facilities at all'.
Neil McCarthy, speaking on behalf of the Scouts, said: "There's nothing in Rixton and Glazebury for children. We provide a vital community service to the borough."
John Groves, head of planning, said the site was not technically' part of the village green.
