LIFE can be very difficult after a divorce, separation or bereavement.
So regular social evenings organised by the National Council for the Divorced and Separated can make all the difference.
It was set up more than 40 years ago and has clubs in nearly ever town.
The branch, based at Eagle Sports Club in Thornton Road in Great Sankey, has 150 members - and is appealing for more.
It also caters for widows and widowers and mature single people.
"We always want more members," said Margaret Hall from the club, a 70-year-old from Worsborough Avenue in Penketh.
"It's a chance to get dressed up and have some fun dancing. When I first went and saw people dancing I thought this isn't for me.
"But nobody minds if you make mistakes and the only way you are going to learn is by trying."
The branch meets on Tuesdays for mainly modern sequence dancing, but also foxtrots, parties, disco music and more.
It's £4 a year for membership and £2.50 an evening. If you just want to turn up and find out more, you are welcome.
Margaret is married to club chairman Peter after meeting him 14 years ago following a divorce, but she said: "I wasn't going looking for anybody. I was just going to make friends.
"A lot of members are not really looking for somebody, they are looking for a night out where everybody is in the same boat.
"Everybody knows everybody else has gone through a difficult time and I would hope people feel more comfortable."
