GOLDEN Gates Housing has been given the top three-star rating, the Audit Commission has confirmed, three weeks after the Warrington Guardian exclusively revealed the news.
The homes were said to be excellent' with excellent' prospects for improvement.
Golden Gates is one of only 10 housing organisations in the country to attain this prestigious standard and one of only two in the north west.
The announcement came after an intensive inspection lasting more than two weeks and the award is a major achievement for the organisation, which manages 9,000 homes in Warrington.
The Audit Commission inspectors cited well located offices, a wide number of routes to access services and high standards of customer care among their reasons.
GGH also demonstrated a clear focus on delivering value for money, has a strong performance in gas servicing and rent collection, and there is effective joint working in place to tackle anti-social behaviour.
Peter Mercer, chief executive of GGH, said: "Our challenge now is to build on this platform and continue to improve the quality."
