SWINTON Lions centre Darren Woods was named as the season's second Northern Rail Cup Man of the Round after a sensational four-try haul in the 28-18 Group Four victory at Oldham last Sunday.
The 22-year-old former Widnes and Leigh centre left the Oldham defence in tatters as the Lions staged a second half fight back to snatch victory.
Woods had scored two tries in the first half but his two second half efforts proved to be the deciding factor. He also had a hand in setting up winger Andy Saywell for Swinton's last try of the game in the 69th minute.
The former Blackbrook player, who had two spells on loans with the Lions in 2006 when he scored 16 tries in 14 appearances, has signed a one-year contract for Swinton and his deadly finishing proved too much for Oldham, who were relegated from national league One last year.
Paul Kidd, the Swinton Lions coach, said: "Darren demonstrated to us last season that he was a very talented player and we're very pleased he has joined us for 2007.
"All of the tries had to be scored and it was his clinical finishing that proved to be the difference in a very competitive match".
