FAIRTRADE Fortnight starts today, Monday, and we have the low-down on all the events happening in Warrington.
The event marks the first anniversary of Warrington being named a Fairtrade borough.
There will be a packed programme of events including: l A Fairtrade quiz trail around Warrington Market. Entry forms available from the information desk or Fair 4 All. Everyone gets a Fairtrade goodie bag for taking part l A design a T-shirt competition where your design is printed onto a fair trade cotton T-shirt to be modelled at a fashion show in April. Hand in your entry with your contact details and age, if under 16, to the shop.
l Fairtrade information stalls and barrels in each of the three Warrington market halls.
l Free Fairtrade product testing every day at Fair 4 All.
l A quiz night at Borders on Friday, March 2 with Fairtrade themed questions.
l Fairtrade Fun at Warrington Market on Saturday, March 3 featuring quizzes, games and new Fairtrade products. The day runs from 10.30am until 2.30pm in the Maze Area of the Middle Hall.
l A Fairtrade celebration service on Saturday, March 10 between 11am and 11.45am near the car park entrance. The service is a short reflection on the benefits of Fairtrade.
Restaurants and cafes around the town are also taking part in a challenge to create a dessert using a Fairtrade ingredient. Those already signed up are the White Apron, Hancock and Wood and Market Corner Coffee Bar.
