A PUBLIC inquiry will rule on a controversial plan to build a waste treatment plant on Winwick Road.

Borough council bosses have confirmed the inquiry will be held at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Tuesday, March 27.

Hundreds of residents packed the Parr Hall last year when the original application was turned down by councillors.

They agreed that traffic chaos would ensue in the Orford area if the healthcare treatment plant was approved.

Developers say slow heating of the medical waste would mean it would not be harmful to residents.

But fears remain in the surrounding areas that the waste, such as syringes or dirty medical equipment, will not be securely kept and could be dangerous.
