A wonderfully talented natural rugby league player who can play as a specialist in the back row, halfbacks or centres, the hard-tackling New Zealand international is a £50000 signing for the Wolves from Super League Champions St Helens. Anderson was a basketball player whilst at a boarding school in Hamilton, New Zealand that did not play rugby league, and his background has left an indelible impression as a superb ball-handler with a range of one-handed offloads. Anderson did not start playing first grade professional rugby league until the age of 23, having completed a building apprenticeship after leaving school and spending a year travelling round the USA before he returned to New Zealand and played a few games with East Coast Bays in 2001. He was quickly picked up by the prolific Kiwi talent-spotter John Ackland and taken to Mt Albert Lions from where he achieved a part-time contract with the NZ Warriors in 2002, making his NRL debut as a centre that year. By 2003 he was celebrating his Test debut - a victory over Australia at Auckland - and was the Kiwis first choice stand-off during the 2004 series. Identified as a loose forward by Wolves coach Paul Cullen, Anderson will bring a new dimension to the Wolves ball-playing capacity in 2007. Comes from a fine rugby league playing family, with brother Louis (New Zealand Warriors and New Zealand) and Fraser (Brisbane Broncos) playing professionally in the NRL.
