England's International Player of the Season in 2005 became Warrington Wolves' Player of the Year in 2006 after an outstandingly consistent year from the front rower which saw him top the clubs meterage charts with 3224. Wood is a highly mobile prop who hits above his weight in the collision and has a quick-play-the-ball, and is a fiercely tough competitor in the middle of the field, even when things are going against the team. He made a return to the Great Britain set-up as part of the standby squad for the Tri-Nations for 2006 and is nowon the verge of being a fully fledged Test front rower. A product of the Wolves Academy system, he joined from Ince St Williams ARLFC and has been a fixture in the first grade side since he made his Super League debut as a teenager in 2000. Had broken into the Great Britain squad in 2003, making his Lions debut against New Zealand A' before injury ruled him out of the Ashes series.
