Burtonwood comedian hits the road
A COMEDY magician from Burtonwood has taken his show on the road.
Jason Mannion, who tours under the alter ego EL Baldiniho, is set to appear at a number of venues across the country.
The 45-year-old, who started doing stand-up comedy around five years ago, has performed more than four hundred gigs so far.
He said: "You start off with a five minute set and that grows over time to 10 minutes then 20 minutes and so on.
"It’s quite a painful process of trial and error when you start out in comedy. Some nights you are the pigeon, other nights, you are the statue."
Currently, Jason, who has lived in the south for the past 18 years, is travelling up and down the country performing his stage show.
He said: "I write my own material but some of the actual magic tricks I perform are years old."
"But the thing I really look forward to is performing in the North West. My sense of humour, comedic sensibility and view of the world comes from being a Burtonwooder and that is very special to me.
"I love performing to northern audiences."
The actor, who plays a henchman in the new TV advert for Supercasino.com, said it is a dream come true to be doing what he loves for a living.
"If the comedy business was a ladder with Lee Evans, Peter Kay and Michael Macintyre at the top then I guess I’m a third of the way up.
"I make a living from doing my act, which has always been a goal of mine."

Litter pick at supermarket cleans up problem
A LITTER pick was organised by staff at Asda Westbrook following a complaint by a resident about the amount of rubbish on the supermarket car park.
Worker Cathy Robinson said they will continue to closely monitor the issue to make sure the area is kept tidy.
She said: “We were aware of this issue and have now had the opportunity to address it.
"Colleagues have attended to the area behind the store throughout the week and we have also conducted a litter pick on the stretch of Cromwell Ave opposite the store."
Winwick pub gets facelift
THE Swan in Winwick has been given a make-over.
The pub on Golborne Road, which was originally built in the 1880s on the site of the former coaching inn, has been refurbished with new flooring and furnishings.
The Swan is an example of Victorian architecture and stands opposite the 13th century Grade I listed St Oswald's Church, which is where Cromwell's troops rested after the bloody Battle of Winwick Pass.
Marie and Neil Evans, general managers at The Swan, said: “We’re delighted with the quality of our latest renovation, and can’t wait to show off our new look. We look forward to welcoming returning and new guests alike.”
