GENEROUS youngsters at Sacred Heart Primary School in Whitecross have been doing their bit for two worthy causes before Christmas.
The school council chose two charities to benefit from teacher and pupil's Christmas fundraising including the Warrington Guardian's December charity of the month The Shannon Bradshaw Trust, as Shannon attended the school before she died aged seven and now her niece and nephew attend as well, and Warrington Open Door at Christmas, which provides a festive meal for the town’s homeless at St John’s Church Hall on Wilderspool Causeway.
The school have also been raising cash for St Roccos throughout December with activities including each class organising movie afternoons, quizzes, non-uniform days, a day of activities called 'Festive Friday', carol singing in Golden Square and a Christmas chocolate raffle with staff and parents kindly donating a wide range of chocolate goodies.
Collections also took place at the the end of year five and six's performance of Joseph and his Technicolour DreamCoat, the infant's nativity and junior advent service.
Colleen Everett, head teacher, said: "The generosity of our children, parents and the whole school community never fails to amaze me. "The children have all enjoyed fundraising in their own different ways to help those less fortunate than themselves.
"We are particularly proud to be supporting The Shannon Bradshaw Trust in memory of a very special little girl who remains always in the hearts of our Sacred Heart family."
So far the school have raised around £900 but said money was still coming in.
