DAVID Mowat, MP for Warrington South, voiced his concerns regarding climate change at an event organised by Christian Aid.
A group of 10 local churches from Warrington in areas including Antrobus, Stretton, Stockton Heath, Appleton and Walton, partnered together to labour for Hunger for Justice Weekend.
Mr Mowat attended the town’s preliminary event at St Wilfrid’s Parish Hall, Grappenhall, to meet with some of his constituents and discuss plans to tackle the problem.
The event took place over October 17 and 18, with Rector of St Wilfrid’s Rev Jane Proudfoot urging residents to do more to help solve the issue.
“The talk from David Mowat was very informative, he certainly knew his stuff,” she said.
“It was great and the people enjoyed it – now we have to do something about it.
“Climate change is a big problem and something we feel strongly about it but we can all make changes and must do so.”
Reverend Proudfoot did, however, reveal her slight disappointment that more people did not turn up.
“It would have been nice for more people to come and find out more about the problem but it was still a great event,” she added.
Following the United Nations Summit in September, countries are expected to put forward proposals for their national commitments to climate change by March 2015.
