WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones joined forces with staff at Asda Westbrook to raise awareness of the devastating effects of breast cancer.
Speaking about the Spread the Word campaign, she said: “It is tragic that breast cancer still claims so many lives. More must be done to fight this awful disease.”
In May, it was revealed that the NHS had missed its cancer targets for the first time.
Prime Minister David Cameron claimed that his reorganisation of the NHS would improve cancer care but Labour say he has made things worse.
Mrs Jones added: “My sympathy is with the many patients who now face an agonising wait for treatment because the Government have missed the cancer waiting target.
“After a decade of improvement in cancer waiting times, we’ve seen a 100 per cent increase in the number of hospitals missing this target in the past 12 months.”
