FORGET the World Cup final regulars at the Hatton Arms got to spend the evening with real life sporting superstar Lee Westwood.
The golf star called in to watch the final on Sunday between Argentina and Germany to the surprise of locals along with his Cheshire based agent Chubby Chandler.
He is in the area preparing for the British Open, which starts on Thursday at Hoylake in Wirral, but took some time out from preparing for the championship to watch the match at the Hatton Lane pub.
Lee said of his visit: “The game was long and a bit disappointing but the food, the beer and the craic were all great.”
He also tweeted: “Well done Germany. I'd have given Neuer the player of the tournament as well as that golden hand thing. Thought he was brilliant.”
The pub will be continuing its sporting theme on Sunday as it will be screening the final day of the Open hoping to see their latest customer contending for the Claret Jug.
There will be a competition to win a putter to the person who guesses the exact time of the winning putt and all entrants will also get a golf ball as part of the competition which will see money raised go to Hatton Parish Council.
