RESIDENTS of a Whitecross street will be asked for their views on how to help shape the future of their area.

Warrington Borough Council and Golden Gates Housing Trust will be conducting an intensive consultation with the residents of Leicester Street.

The street is in an area which is part of the council’s ‘closing the gap’ scheme which aims to bring changes to areas defined as being among the top 10 per cent of the most deprived in the country.

Clr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture, said: “The council wants to find out what local people would like to see in their area and what support they would like.

“We will be asking what people like about the area, what they want to improve, whether they think there needs to be more for older people, for families, for children or teenagers and so on.

“We’ll also be asking if people need help finding employment or training, in order to inform our services in this area, as it is a key local priority.”

Council officers from the west neighbourhoods team, which works with the local community and partners to help improve the neighbourhood, will be joined by officers of Golden Gates Housing Trust, which manages many of the properties on Leicester Street, in a door-to-door survey.

The survey will also be available to fill in online for two weeks.
