INTERNATIONAL Women’s Day heralded the start of a campaign to collect bras for a good cause.
Any unwanted underwear can be handed to Soroptimist International (SI) of Warrington as part of Oxfam’s Big Bra Hunt 2014.
The group, which is for women in the town, is calling on people to help out as the donated bras will go on sale in Oxfam’s shops or sent through the charity’s Wastesaver recycling plant to Senegal to be sold in shops run by social enterprise Frip Ethique.
SI Warrington club president Margaret Carr said: “The bra collection would benefit women in the UK and in Senegal. Those sold here would help Oxfam’s fundraising. In Senegal, the Frip Ethique project provided life-changing employment opportunities for the women involved.”
To donate bras call 07786 943712 to arrange collection or e-mail sibras@outlook.com.
