PRIMARK was evacuated as a safety precaution early this afternoon, Tuesday, when the shop's alarm system was set off by a customer.
Shoppers were seen crowding around the entrance to the Golden Square clothes store just before 1pm.
Ian Cox, Golden Square's manager, said: "Primark was evacuated as a precaution this afternoon as the result of the alarm system being triggered by a customer accidentally.
"The store promptly reopened to the public.
"The safety and wellbeing of our visitors is always our first priority."
