BEATING the Liberal Democrats and working closely with the Labour run Town Hall are among five top priorities released by the Warrington South Labour Party.
Nick Bent, who will stand for the General Election seat next year, has revealed his top five priorities for 2014.
And he has backed Ed Miliband’s vow to boost wages and clamp down on employers using foreign workers to undercut local people.
Mr Bent said: “Labour understands people’s concerns about the cost of living and only a Labour Government will give families the practical help and fresh opportunities they need to get on in life."
He said the top priorties were: 1 Listen to people’s concerns about the cost of living and promote Ed Miliband’s pledges to freeze energy bills, expand free childcare and cut business rates for small firms.
2 Lobby the Coalition Government to drop plans for new road tolls to cross Mersey bridges, as they have in the south.
3 Closely monitor the quality of NHS services, especially given the pressures on Warrington Hospital during the winter months as staff cope with massive Government cuts to social services.
4 Work closely with our Labour Town Hall to win the investment Warrington needs for town centre developments, the new Stadium Quarter, the University Technical College, etc.
5 In the elections on May 22, remove racist BNP Leader Nick Griffin (who was declared bankrupt last week) from the European Parliament and to beat the Lib Dems in Labour’s three target Wards of Grappenhall and Thelwall, Latchford West and Whittle Hall.
