HOWLEY and Fairfield residents will be tackling dog mess as they link up with a national Poo Busters campaign.
Volunteers are using fluorescent orange paint to mark mess left by irresponsible dog owners who refuse to clean up after their dogs.
And after only two weeks, the problem has significantly reduced in the areas targeted.
The specialist paint, which is bio-degradable and disappears after about four weeks depending on the weather, was purchased by Fairfield Community Association.
The association say the pain not only draws attention to the problem but also highlights the mess to walkers to avoid standing in it.
Dog poo disposal bags are available, free of charge, from the community office, at the Fairfield and Howley Neighbourhood Project, on Fairfield Street, from 9.30am to noon.
If you live in Fairfield and have this problem in your street contact the association 418633, e-mail info@fairfieldhowley.co.uk or find them on Facebook.
