A BIRCHWOOD school has been awarded 10 laptops in a competition.
The contest was organised by Appleton’s Flextronics Global Services and Software.
Birchwood CE Primary School won the computers after convincing the firm that pupils would make the best use of the computers.
Mike Meades, Flextronics’ general manager, met with students from years three and four who are using the internet to learn where animals live and what they eat.
Jan Meir, ICT co-ordinator at the school, said: “Computer literacy is so important in today’s world and having extra laptops available is really helping them develop their ICT skills.”
Mike added: “It’s really interesting to see the difference the new laptops have made to the children – it’s the first time we’ve made this kind of donation and we’re already exploring other ways we can support the community in the future.”
