THE Culcheth community has been thanked for its generosity after supporting a food bank scheme for people in need.
Sainsbury’s in Common Lane has teamed up with Culcheth Community Church which saw customers give away some of the food they bought.
More than 350kg of groceries were donated which Sainsbury’s is in the process of matching.
Store manager James Burney has also created a permanent space for the food bank and further donations are welcome.
Shaun Kavanagh, deacon at Culcheth Community Church, said: “Culcheth Community Church is very grateful to the public for their response and to Sainsbury’s staff for their time, co-operation and generosity given over to this initiative. Big thanks all round.”
