FORGET horse shoes, black cats or four-leaf clovers.
For many in Stockton Heath recently the only luck they need is buying their lottery ticket from Stockton Heath post office.
The London Road store could be the town’s luckiest lottery shop after two winners in one day last week each picked up more than £2,000.
Since December last year the store has also had five ticket holders each collecting a range of prizes from £1,500 to £1,754.
Owners Jitendra and Pratima Patel, who have worked at the post office for 11 years, said they have no idea what has made their shop so auspicious but they regularly see customers cashing in.
Mrs Patel said: “We had a man in who had bought six weeks worth of tickets and asked us to check them for him.
“He was absolutely delighted when we realised he had won more than £2,000 then it happened again on the same day for a lady and she bought us a tin of biscuits to thank us.
“We have times when it can be quiet and then we always seem to go on a run but we tend to always have at least one winner a month.”
The husband and wife team, who say they also buy lottery tickets but have never been as lucky as their customers, think word has been getting around the village about the number of wins.
Mrs Patel added: “I think we have had a few more people in recently after people have been talking about it being lucky so we will have to see if the run continues.”
