I've watched two films in the past week; Les Miserables and Gangster Squad. Two very different films.
Gangster Squad wasn't quite what I expected. The trailer gave me a slightly different impression.
Nonetheless, it was still enjoyable and an easy watch.
I have never seen Les Miserables at the theatre nor have I read the book.
I was sort of familiar with the story. I can't compare the film to anything else but I can say it is moving and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
However, I know that musicals aren't to everyone's liking.
I sometimes wonder whether musicals with serious undertones alienate film audiences because singing seems like the most unnatural thing to do in the circumstances.
Maybe it works better at the theatre.
I've decided that I definitely want to see this at the theatre.
