PARSONAGE Ben 3rd March 1924 1st October 2024 Mr Ben Parsonage peacefully passed away on 1st October 2024 aged 100. Beloved husband of Elsie, who sadly passed away in 2007, much loved father of David, Janet and John and grandfather to Stephanie, Andrew, Adam, Eleonor and Jacob. Ben will be dearly missed by all his loving family and friends. Born in Latchford, Ben lived the majority of his life in Grappenhall, before returning to Latchford to spend his last 12 months in Three Bridges Nursing Home. After leaving school, Ben was drafted into the Army in the early part of the 2nd World War, where he joined the REME. Over a period of 4 years he travelled through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany providing support to British tank regiments. After being discharged in 1948, Ben began his career as a welder and worked for a variety of companies starting with Richmond's in Latchford (where he met his future wife Elsie) and concluding with Halton Fabrications where he spent the majority of his career and where he was considered by the owners to be one of the best welders of his generation. Ben retired in 1989 and together with Elsie pursued his passions for holidaying with the family and golf. Ben celebrated his 100th birthday with a party with all his friends and family and a card from King Charles and Queen Camilla. A celebration of Ben's life will be held on 24th October 2024 at 11:20am at Walton Lea Crematorium, Chester Road, Higher Walton, Warrington, WA4 6TB.
