Cllr. Diana B.Ed. LLM. FRIEND
FRIEND Cllr. Diana B.Ed. LLM. Deputy Mayoress of Warrington. Sadly passed away peacefully on 21st May 2023 aged 72 at St. Rocco's Hospice. Diana was born in Warrington and lived here all her life. She attended Oakwood Avenue Primary School and went on to Warrington High School for Girls. She trained as a primary school teacher at Padgate College (latterly known as The University of Chester, Warrington Campus) and went on to teach in Warrington schools and as a home tutor for all of her working life. She was a woman of faith and action, involved in leadership in her local parish church and in 2000 was licensed by the then Bishop of Liverpool as a Lay Minister in the Church of England. During her many years of faithful service Diana was also a Lay Prison Minister and Padre to 1330 Squadron Royal Airforce Air Cadets. Her strong social conscience manifest itself in membership of The Labour Party and ultimately in local politics; over time she became Chair of Winwick Parish Council; Councillor Poulton with Fearnhead Parish Council; Warrington Borough Councillor (WBC) Poulton North Ward; WBC rep Warrington Educational Trust and Chief Marshal and Organiser Padgate Walking Day and for many years, Superintendent St. John Ambulance. Diana was a daughter, a wife, a mother and a friend who made her own unique contribution in life and the world will be a poorer place for her passing. The funeral service will take place at 10.30 am on Friday 16th June at The Church of the Ascension, Woolston WA1 4ES. Diana asked that people wear something red in her memory and there should be family flowers only, please. All donations in lieu will be gratefully accepted for St. Rocco's Hospice. All enquiries to Barry at Co-Operative Funeralcare 01925 445555.

I am a very old friend of Dianna’s, we were in the St John Ambulance together and went on holidays together and knew of the births of her children, and we socialised at each other’s houses.
Although over the years we lost touch , we latterly remembered each other with Christmas cards and a few phone calls.
A truly very organised and busy LADY.
So sorry for your loss
