Wright, Anthony (Tony) William The funeral took place on the 1st Of December 2021 in Cavan, Co. Cavan, Eire, of Mr. Anthony (Tony) William Wright, of Labourer's Cottage, Corgar, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, Eire, husband of the late Jean Wright (nee Rowland). He died at home on the 26th November 2021, aged 81, in the presence of his children, Anthony and Kay. Tony was born in 1940 in Liverpool and spent his childhood living at 8 Wilmot Avenue in Great Sankey, before joining the Merchant Navy, serving on Blue Star Line ships, amongst others. On his return to Warrington, he worked at Monks Hall Steel Works and then for over twenty years at Thames Board Mills, where he joined the union, SOGAT, and worked tirelessly to improve health and safety conditions. After a period of self-employment as a builder, Tony joined Anglia Canners as a maintenance worker. He then worked as a boat builder at Fiddlers Ferry Boat Yard. Prior to retirement on the grounds of ill health, he worked at Brooks Composites in Runcorn. During married life, Tony lived at 16 Kenyon Avenue in Penketh and built or restored many boats. After his wife died, he sailed one over to Ireland, working his way through the waterway system to Belleek. Having been made welcome by the people of Ireland, he settled in the Emerald Isle, initially in Drimoleague in Co. Cork before ending his days in Ballinamore. Following Cremation in Cavan and in accordance with his wishes, Tony's ashes will be scattered beside Lough Allen. He leaves a son and daughter and two grandchildren. Arrangements were conducted by Smiths Funeral Directors, Ballinamore.
