LYMM Jubilee WI’s August annual joint meeting with Heatley WI was held on Wednesday.
Lymm Jubilee’s president Gill Fuller opened the meeting welcoming members and the president and members of Heatley WI.
Heatley’s president Eve Miles thanked Gill for hosting this event and said that Heatley’s business for the evening would be held over until next month.
Gill welcomed two visitors, and presented a golden wedding rose and a diamond wedding voucher to two members celebrating these anniversaries.
Gill thanked the organisers of two events last month, the visit to Llanfair PG, in Anglesey the home of the first WI 100 years ago, and also the summer barbecue held at the Spread Eagle which members had enjoyed and the weather had been kind on both occasions.
Gill reminded members to support the forthcoming Lymm Rushbearing at which members carry a garland.
Diane Coulton, county treasurer, encouraged members to view the The WI Inspiring Women for 100 years exhibition at Knutsford Heritage Centre which was being held as part of the centenary celebrations.
A walk around Styal is planned for later this month followed by lunch at The Romper.
After tea members were entertained to a talk with slides entitled My Life at Granada by Judith Popley a former production assistant with ITV.
She recalled her time assisting in the production of drama documentaries and many popular serials throughout the 1970s and 1980s including Sherlock Holmes and The Mallins.
The next meeting will be held on September 2 and this will be the annual meeting to be held in Lymm Methodist Church Hall at 7.30pm.
