OUR re-elected president, Karen Young, welcomed 40 members and two visitors to our January meeting.
Following the singing of Jerusalem Maureen Bird was thanked for the plant on the president’s table. This was later given to Freda Williams, who recently broke her arm.
Details were given of the 95th GFWI celebrations to be held at Gawsworth Hall on July 8 – coach transport will be arranged for this event.
Members had thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas social in December.
Annual subscriptions are now due.
Future events include: Annual coffee morning, April 14; Brindley Theatre for South Pacific, May 15 with optional earlier meal.
The guest speaker, June Corner, made a welcome return visit with a humorous yet factual talk on ‘Snippets and stories from 1930’. As usual, she had many items of clothing, magazines and artefacts.
A vote of thanks was given by Dorothy Platt for an entertaining talk bringing back many memories.

The next meeting will take place on February 19, featuring Sue Beesley’s ‘Computers to Compost’.
