PRESIDENT June Bellis welcomed members and visitors to the meeting and wished everyone a happy, healthy New Year. Several members were absent owing to illness and were sent good wishes.
Thanks were extended to everyone who helped to provide an enjoyable Christmas party. The handbells gave a festive feeling, ringing out carols and popular Christmas music.
Two outings have been suggested for the first part of the year. March 19, Mills and Markets and April 15 visit to Tweedmill St Asaph.
Two theatre visits are also planned to see The Jersey Boys and The Judy Garland story, both at the Liverpool Empire, dates to be confirmed.
A new Friendship Group will meet in the lounge on Thursdays at 1.30pm. Everyone is welcome to come for a cup of tea and a chat, so don’t sit at home on your own.
Our speaker for the evening was Natalia Kerkham. She told us that small changes to our diet can make a difference to our health. Sugar is one of the worst offenders. From now on, we will all be reading the information the packaging and hopefully choose healthier options.
Our next meeting will be held at Meeting Lane Community Centre, Meeting Lane, on February 2 at 7.15pm. The speaker will be Karen Corcoran and her subject is The First Lady Mounted Policewoman.
Visitors welcome. Please contact 725227 for more details.
