Fairtrade Merlot 2014, £5.99, Co-op
This own-label Co-operative Merlot is the result of their own Fairtrade project in Argentina’s Famatina Valley and is 15% Malbec which helps add plum flavours to a smooth red berry wine.
The alcohol level is a sensible 12.5% and this price is £1 cheaper than normal until October 13.
A good autumn warmer.
La Vieille Ferme Blanc 2014, £5.99, Co-op
The Vieille Ferme brand both in red and white has been around for many years and for one very simple reason – they are good value French wines.
This white from the Rhone region is a blend of Grenache Blanc, Ugni Blanc and Vermentino and is dry with a refreshing taste of peaches and a hint of honeysuckle.
Again the price above is £1 off until October 13.
