TATTON Park’s Old Hall is bracing itself for a Viking invasion on August 10.
It is 1,000 years since Norsemen first crossed the Cheshire borders but these ones are no less terrifying with an authentic re-enactment planned.
Witness the clash of steel and hear the smash of axe on shield as these hardened warriors demonstrate Viking combat skills.
The Vikings of Middle England are renowned for the historical authenticity of their battle displays.
But it is not all about battle and bloodshed as around 30 re-enactors will be setting up an Viking camp at the Old Hall and demonstrating the domestic side of Viking life.
Visitors can learn about authentic cooking over open fires, wood-cutting, coin-striking, spinning, dyeing and weaving activities.
Families will also have the chance to check out The Viking Longship Experience fresh from the British Museum and children can be little Vikings with Kiddie Vike. There will also be the opportunity to try on armour and test their own expertise with an archer’s longbow.
Viking Sunday takes place on August 10 between 12pm and 5pm.
