Dead Letter Office Shiraz 2012, £10.99, Co-op
The price is £2 cheaper than usual until July 15 on this rich, ripe Aussie Shiraz which is velvety, full of plums and cherries and has a touch of barrel oak.
It comes from South Australia’s McLaren Vale which is cooler than most of the subcontinent and this also gives a fresh flavour.
Strong at 14.5% and good stuff with a daftly memorable name.
Fairtrade Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, £6.49, Co-op
save a pound here too until July 15 and that also makes this award winner a bargain buy.
It is made especially for the Co-op in Argentina’s Famatina Valley by a Fairtrade wine co-operative so the workers themselves benefit.
Blackcurrants and a touch of spice are the predominant tastes and it goes down well with most food and cheeses.
