Willow Bridge Estate Cabernet Merlot 2013, £7.99 (until May 13), Co-op
The first of two reds this week is from one of Australia’s newer wine regions in the nation’s Western state south of Perth and about 2,000 miles from Sydney.
The Bordeaux-style mix of Cabernet and Merlot means lots of blackcurrants and some chocolate too.
The £2 reduction to £7.99 also applies to the producer’s tasty Sauvignon Blanc.
Truly Irresistable Montepulciano D’Abruzzo 2013, £6.99 (until May 13)
Co-op Montepulciano couldn’t be anything but Italian and it’s the name of a vigorous grape as well as the town in Tuscany around which it’s grown.
This rustic, own label, red is deep ruby in colour and packed with red berry flavours and a touch of oak.
At £6.99 there’s a £2 saving on the normal price until May 13 ¬- an extra reason for giving it a try.
