A CONTEMPORARY dance show produced by a woman who played a big part in the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Paralympics takes place at Pyramid on Saturday.
Helen Parlor’s Close Distance promises a theatrical dance performance about people’s relationships with their neighbours.
She won her role as assistant choreographer at the Paralympics after working in professional dance for nearly 15 years.
She said: “Although I had a blast working on the Paralympics, for me it’s all about connecting with the audience by being close to them.
“I love nothing more than seeing dance performed in village halls and the audience staying back after the show to meet the dancers.
“Close Distance is a show for all ages, it really strikes a balance between comedy and heartbreak. People can really relate to the story as it documents things that we all go through”.
Helen, pictured, hopes that people will be inspired by the show and will want to get involved with contemporary dance themselves. The dancers from Close Distance are running workshops tomorrow, Friday. Call Pyramid box office on 442345 to find out more.
